| Basics to using Alt.Binaries.Music.SHN.DMB: 1) Have Access To a NewsGroup Server with Binary Groups: Most cable ISPs (Road Runner, @Home, etc.) provide you with a NewsGroup server. Your two main concerns are 1) What is the address of my Server? and 2) Does my server subscribe to Alt.Binaries.Music.SHN.DMB? The address of your server is usually listed on your internet service provider's website. It'll look something like news.frontiernet.net (that's for Frontier Lightning Link DSL in NY). Check your ISPs FAQ, and if you still can't find it, try their online help chat or customer sevice phone line. If you have the address, follow the rest of the instructions - you can always ask your provider to add the DMB group if you find they don't already carry it. 2) Install/Set Up Download NewsGrabber. Install it using the following guide: At the opening screen when it asks you about a 'Database' - just pick 'Create' and type in DMB. When it prompts you for your server address, enter it and choose 'Yes' to download the list of available groups. When it asks you to add groups, just put DMB in the 'Filter' bar, and it should list Alt.Binaries.Music.SHN.DMB - move that from the left (unsubscribed) to the right (subscribed) window by highlighting it and clicking the arrow. Close, and click on the group name to load the available titles. 3) Downloading a show You'll learn through experience, but basically just double-click on the file you want and it will be downloaded into the folder on your computer under [hard drive letter]:/Program Files/NewsGrabber3/Downloads |
