Released in 1989 Skynyrd's Innyrds was a stripped
down version of Gold And Platinum, and much like Best
Of The Rest it contained two previously unreleased
tracks. Outtake versions of "Double Trouble" and
"Free Bird" The original version of "Free Bird" we've
all heard ran 9 minutes and 8 seconds long.(Which was
LONG for radio play back then) The one on Skynyrd's
Innyrds is 10 minutes and 8 seconds long. (You gotta'
remember that in 1973, most of the airplay was on AM.
FM was something new. The Doors, Golden Earring,
Grang Funk, and Iron Butterfly, were all victims of "
Cut the song down!" ) Ronnie first refused then gave
in to a 9 minute and 8 second AM version ( Which was
VERY long still )
Innyrds shows Free Bird as it was.....
If you've heard the live version ..... well it's
kinda the same. A big rolling finale'.
