| 30. His Secret 4:02 pm "Having fun, gentlemen?" Meg strolled into the music room, shutting the door behind her. Paul and her father were sitting at the piano bench, obviously enjoying themselves. "Of course! Paul was just telling me about your favorite song." "Really, now?" she asked, leaning up against the piano. "It wouldn't happen to be the one you wrote, eh Paul?" He blushed. "You always said you liked it." "Yes I do. And it is my favorite." "Well I'd like to hear it!" Garrett volunteered. "Vocals and all!" "Alright with you, Paulie?" "As long as it's okay with you." "Go ahead." Paul began playing out a slow tune. Meg loved the way Paul got immersed in his music "I love being close to you. Something about your eyes tells me To give you everything I am. I wanna be the arms You run to tonight." "Let me be the one You tell all your secrets to. I just wanna be your confidant, Your faithful friend and love. Tell me everything." "I can't live without your smile. Something bout you drives me wild. I'm so crazy for you, Baby. I wanna be the face You wake up just to see." "Let me be the one You tell all your secrets to. I just wanna be your confidant, Your faithful friend and love. Tell me everything." "Tell me every dream you've ever wanted. Let me be the reality to help you live them. Tell me why you've cried every tear you've cried. Let my hand wipe them away and you'll never cry again." "Don't ever cry again. I believe in you and me. I just wanna be your everything." "Let me be the one You tell all your secrets to. I just wanna be your confidant, Your faithful friend and love. Tell me everything." "Let me be the one You tell all your secrets to. I just wanna be your confidant, Your faithful friend and love. Tell me everything." "Tell me your secrets." "Bravissimi!" Garrett applauded. "Such talent! I'm impressed!" "Well thanks, Dad," Meg replied. "I was talking to Paul!" he joked. "Not funny!" she said, not offended. "Well, I'm going to call the Pearl and get dinner reservations for tonight. Sound good to y'all?" "The Pearl?" "Yeah. It's a restaurant on a yacht out in Brooklyn. Absolutely beautiful, secluded, too." "Sounds great, Dad!" "Alright, I'll be back in a while unless the idiot puts me on hold again." As the door shut, Meg walked over to Paul and sat on his lap. There were tears in his eyes. "What's wrong, baby?" she asked. He swallowed. "Nothing." He smiled through his tears. "I'm just so in love with you." She put her arms around his neck and kissed him. "I love you, Paul. I can't imagine going through this without you. The good times and the bad ones." She smiled and rested her head on his shoulder as he pulled her closer. "You smell good." "I do?" she asked. "Yeah." "Well at least I don't stink, eh?" He smiled. Meg put her hands on his face and wiped away his tears. He had a different look in his eyes, like he was truly...happy. She'd never seen him cry and knew he didn't have any reason to. But something was obviously on his mind. |
