History of RebelRun Kennel
Dr. Elmer Pineda

Established in January of 1989, Rebelrun Kennel
was formed with a firm commitment to the betterment of the Philippine Pug
Dog. It was built by two very enthusiastic canine exhibitors Maryrose
S. Lopez and Dr. Elmer G. Pineda, and was built on the finest
foundation bitches that they can lay their hands on at the time. It was
the Supreme Kennels of MR. JOSE LIM TAN (Supreme Knl.) who helped
them make their dream come true and literally gave them the easiest start
any breeder can ask for. He provided Rebelrun with PHIL GR CH JARON
PRINCESS DIANA, PHIL CH JARON FAVORITE SHOW GIRL, ROM, PHIL GR CH SUPREME
FACE TO FACE, PHIL GR CH SUPREME PRETTY BABY and PHIL CH SUPREME MY LUCKY
STAR. All of these bitches descended from the legendary all time top
producing Philippine Pug, BISS PHIL GR/AM CH PAULAINE’S SIR LANCELOT
(USA), ROM. These bitches did not only give Rebelrun numerous wins
and countless awards in the show ring but also provided the very line on
which Rebelrun came to be known for by the numerous champions and grand
champions that came after them.
|
It was then MRS. JANE G. KAY of the
|
United States of America who opened up the gates of the American
Pug breeders, thus, infusing the needed bloodlines into Rebelrun.
MRS.
MARGERY A. SHRIVER of the famous Sheffield Pugs sent two of the most
dominant stud dogs that ever came into the country,
BISS
PHIL GR CH SHEFFIELD’S TRISTRAM SHANDY (USA), ROM (the Philippine’s
No. 7 Top Dog and No. 1 Pug for 1992) and Nationals BISS
PHIL CH SHEFFIELD’S JUMPING JACK FLASH (USA). She later on sent
excellent bitches that produced really well for Rebelrun, namely, PHIL/AM
CH SHEFFIELD’S SECOND SEQUENCE (USA), PHIL
CH SHEFFIELD’S KISS ME TWICE (USA), ROM, and AM CH SHEFFIELD’S FIRE
OPAL (USA). With this solid foundation stock, Rebelrun soon became
the Pug kennel to be reckoned within the Philippines. Even with very limited
breeding and campaigning, it has bred, owned and/or finished the most number
of Pug Champions and Grand Champions in the Philippines!

|
Rebelrun Pugs not
only excelled in conformation but proved critics wrong when their homebred
BISS
PHIL GR CH REBELRUN FAVORITE WOODSTOCK became the first ever Pug
to go into Obedience Competition in the country. HE went on to be the No.
1 Obedience Dog (All Breeds) in 1991. WOODY proved that beauty
and brains do mix as he was No. 8 in 1991 and No. 10 in 1992 in the Dog
Of The Year standings.
 |
With their firm determination in upgrading
and safeguarding their beloved |
breed in the country,Dr. Pineda and Mae help found
the PUG DOG CLUB OF THE PHILIPPINES, INC. with Elmer as its
Founding
President. Dr. Pineda also took up judging to further promote the purebred
dogsport and, as of this writing, he is already licensed to judge all breeds
by the Philippine Canine Club, Inc.
 |
Marriage in 1994 and the birth of their
boy, Joseph Benjamin, slowed things down quite a bit in the kennel. |
However, the call of the whelping box and the show ring proved to
be simply irresistible and they then resumed active breeding and showing
after two years. It was on September 9, 1996 when Mae and Elmer realized
their lifetime dream when breeder-judge MR. CHUNG HAN CHANG of Taiwan
gave their homebred boy, BISA/BISS PHIL
GR CH REBELRUN WILD AS THE WIND, ROM the kennel’s very FIRST
ALL BREED BEST IN SHOW. "Toby" has since then produced a number
of champions for their and other kennels.

Other Pugs who have done well for Rebelrun
and other kennels include PHIL
GR CH REBELRUN SECOND SEQUEL (First Specialty Best In Show winning
bitch in country), THAI CH REBELRUN SUNDAY PUNCH (One of Thailand’s
top-winning Pugs), PHIL GR CH REBELRUN PRELUDE TO A KISS and multi-Best
Baby Puppy in Show winning PHIL GR
CH REBELRUN CHRISTMAS SERENADE (a champion at 8 months of age!).
In 1998, MS. ANDREA P BELMORE of Gas Hollow Pugs sent a very
nice promising puppy bitch which later became PHIL
CH GAS HOLLOW’S VANILLA POP (USA) and was followed in 1999 by a
handsome young dog, multi-group winning AM
& PHIL GRAND CH GAS HOLLOW’S COPPERFIELD (USA) ROM. Time will
tell how these new additions to the kennel will do for the breed.
This website aims to help promote the betterment of the Pug breed and
at the same time showcase the various dogs and bitches that all helped
put Rebelrun Pugs in the map of the Philippine purebred dog sport.
