Its windy this Saturday, too windy to continue with the fairings...

Ok, well... Diana has given up on bikes, she came across this deal and I completely understand why she isnt getting a bike anymore. She picked up this 85 stang for like $500, it makes 300/300 at the wheels! Lucky her

After I clean the up bike, I change the oil and I spray carb cleaner in the carbs to see if I can un-gunk them. It helped a little but still wants to die.

I don't know what to else to call myself for this but I'm a complete idiot. Remember how I Was saying that I thought the tranny was broken because it wouldn't shift. Well I had my information backwards and now its shifting. Troy, my friends brother-in law, explained to me how to shift. Since he has a GSXR600 I thought he knew what he was talking about. But to make a long story short, I was pushing in the shifter instead of pulling it. Dur... It shifts! Yay

So now that it shifts Im going to take it out for the first time.

I call up John, he's at home and he wants to see the bike. I tell him I'm on my way over Im going on the bike. "If it overheats or brake down, I'll call you on my cell." I tell him. John lives in Buena Park, which is about 10-15 mins away on the freeway with no traffic. Its about 12 in the afternoon so its pretty clam and safe. I grab my helmet, put on some old jeans and my Levis jacket. Jump on the bike and head towards the freeway. "I like this..." I thought to myself, it runs smooth, straight, its not scary... So I here comes the scary part, time to get on the freeway. I get on the freeway and everything is ok, traffic is fine, full tank of gas. I checked the oil, coolant and tire pressures everything is fine.

5 mins later... Mental note: Stay away from ruts in the road, the bike got squirmy as I rode over a rut trying to get in the middle lane. Average speed about 65, highest speed 110 when there was no traffic. The temp indicator always stayed in the middle, "I dunno what he is talking about this bike overheats..." I said to myself.

10 mins later I arrive at Johns, no trouble what so ever pretty eventless. John's reaction, "$200!? A steal..." "Yeah", I told him But it needs some work, oh yeah about this time I found out that the turn signals dont work so I have to use hand signals. "Have you checked the bulbs and connections?" he said, "nope"... so we check them out

Looks like are disconnected, but I can't seem to wire them correctly as one side stays on and other side blinks faster than the other side. At least they are working now...

I ride the bike home effortlessly and no trouble, but then in the middle of stop and go traffic I start to see the temp gauge go up. It gets really close to the red and I don't hear the cooling fan come on, luckily traffic clears up I get moving and it starts to cool down again. Time to look at that cooling fan.
