| About "A Lesson Before Dying" | ||||||||||||||
| Jefferson was walking down the road when a car with Brother and Bear comes up, and Brother and Bear ask and finally insist on Jefferson getting a ride with them to a general store. Brother and Bear attempt to rob the store with Jefferson present as a scapegoat, but things go bad. The clerk pulls out a gun and shooting begins. The clerk manages to kill Brother and Bear before being mortally wounded himself. Jefferson, having just seen three men shot and killed, gets rattled and grabs a bottle of whiskey from behind the counter to try and calm himself. When he comes to realize how this will look he decides to leave, but seeing the open register grabs some money and as he is leaving he is apprehended by the police. The rest of the story is what happens between Jefferson's execution and the task of Grant, a cousin of Jefferson, appointed by Jeffersons "Nanan" to turn Jefferson into a man. | ||||||||||||||

| Black Civil Rights Movement | ||||||||||||||
| I believe alot of the characters from the book "A Lesson Before Dying" would like this link because its the story of the Black Civil Rights Movement, their future. They'd see that what Jefferson stood up for was worth it. The equality of all human races becoming closer to perfect equality. | ||||||||||||||
| Are Racist Trials Still Happening? | ||||||||||||||
| Yes they are. According to this article many trials are biasts on race, religion, and other defining traits. Multiple trials are still held today with all white trials. These are believed to be coincidence and not on purpose. Others highly disagree. People like Grant, and Jefferson will like to see this because they'll know their work isn't done yet but it's still come a long way. | ||||||||||||||
