An Army Life
Army career's be the best,
Step inside and take the test,
The entrance exam, now let me see,
One plus one now isn't that three,
The written test over what's next to do,
Well let's get started on stage two,
A medical now or so they said,
Examine my chest and then my head.

Phase three at last the final test,
A seven minute mile without a rest,
Basic training the pain begins,
Blistered feet and aching shins,
The assault course a three mile run,
The basic fitness test has just begun,
Map reading let's go from here to there,
You'll find your way almost anywhere.

Camoflauge the art of concealment,
Can you find the hidden equipment,
Ranges and weapon handling must be an art,
A good position and graet aim is just the start,
Learning to march and doing drill,
Can't do it you say but you soon will,
The exercise phase a week in a trench,
combats all muddy and what's that stench.

One day to go the end is in sight,
Pick up the step let's get it right,
Passing out parade basic is over,
Driver training begins inside a rover,
H.G.V is next you're in a truck,
Cross country skills have got you stuck,
Licence achieved you're doing fine,
Now begins trade training time.

You chose to be a R.E.M.E fitter,
All day on course, all night on bitter,
Six months later and the course is done,
Your first unit, and real life has just begun,
A year has passed since your training strife,
And glad are you to have chosen an Army life.
