Oh, she won't admit it- the captain in her won't let her admit it. But I know this woman like the back of my hand.
She is terrified.
We stand, our hands still clasped. Reassurance is what she needs right now.
"You have the bridge," she says. I manage a smile and nod, knowing that this may be the last time I see her.
She turns and walks away and our hands slip apart. Just before entering the turbolift, she turns, the captain's mask slips-
And, for an instant, I see my Kathryn again.
