Bibliographic Instruction

Library instruction can equip students to write quality research papers and create innovative projects. Oftentimes, students are unfamiliar with the names and functions of library databases. As they become acquainted with which library tools are helpful for their coursework and how to formulate good search strategies, they can work more effectively and efficiently. It is increasingly important for students to learn how to evaluate internet resources. Students also need to understand what plagiarism is and how they can summarize and cite their resources properly. Instruction can be customized to suit specific courses or class assignments.

Bibliographic instruction sessions are typically one hour.

Faculty can request bibliographic sessions for their courses by contacting the bibliographic instruction librarians.

Students tend to learn library tools best when they have an opportunity to practically apply them to relevant coursework and assignments.
