| Matt and I met when his Dad preached a sermon at our church. I didn't like him much at first. I thought he was fun, but not fun enough to be interesting to me. As time went by, we started visiting his parents church. During our 2 years there, Lydia and I were both baptized and I developed an interest in Matthew. We were in the same Home Group, our Mothers spent time together while we tagged along -- everything just blended so nicely. I really wanted to marry Matthew, but I didn't hardly know him. Of course, I didn't know that. I remember asking Mother if it was appropriate for a girl to ask a boy to marry her if he was taking too long in proposing. While a lot of different things happened with my family and his family when I moved to Michigan, I think it was the smartest decision I ever made. You know how as you go through life doing things exactly so and expect everything to go just as you planned, and then God rearranges everything. Each decision you make leads you to another, each an opportunity to touch someone's life and be a testimony. Matthew and I were married on October 12, 2004. I was in the back of the church all jittery and excited, and Matthew was calm and pensive. I couldn't figure him out, it was like He later told me what he was thinking, but I'm not going to say. That's our secret. Maybe he'lll tell you one day. |
