Biography: The Rise of a Star
Rebecca Lynn Howard is a one-of-a-kind singer, no doubt about it.  "Ive really tried to create my own sound," Rebecca Lynn Howard says of her debut album. "There are a lot of different sides to me and when people hear my music, I think theyll come to know me.  Musically, the songs I write are so different. I dont think you can peg my music to any other artist. Id say its kind of rock n roll meets bluegrass meets r&b meets country."

Rebecca was born in Salyersville, Kentucky.  Music has always been a huge part of her life.  She has been singing since she was a toddler and taught herself how to play the piano at a very young age.  She sang at her school and church and toured with the Kentucky Opry Variety Show.  Rebecca started writing music at a very young age.  "I was really wrapped up in music all the time," Rebecca admits.

Before she even hit it big with solo success, stars such as Reba McEntire, John Michael Montgomery, Patty Loveless and Lila McCann had already recorded her songs. "Im real proud of that," Rebecca admits. "I didnt just come out of high school and land a record deal. Im a songwriter and Ive been working in this business since I was 10 years old. Ive worked really hard over the past decade."
"Ive always known this is what I wanted to do," Rebecca says. "I finally talked my mom into bringing me to Nashville when I was 10." As a beginning solo artist, Rebecca opened for singers such as Martina McBride, John Michael Montgomery, Ricky Van Shelton and Sammy Kershaw, all the while fine tuning her music and making contacts in the business.

Rebecca's first love has always been music.  "Musically, the songs I write are so different. I dont think you can peg my music to any other artist. Id say its kind of rock n roll meets bluegrass meets r&b meets country. Growing up I listened to Reba, Patty Loveless, Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey-all the big power singers," Rebecca says. "I think you can hear a lot of their influence in my music."

Rebecca was signed to Rising Tide Records and recorded the song "Softly And Tenderly" for The Apolstle soundtrack, which eventually won a Grammy.  When Rising Tide Records closed their doors in 1998, Rebecca found a new home in MCA Nashville.
Rebecca released her self-titled album, which included the songs "When My Dreams Come True" and "Out Here In The Water." She wrote or co-wrote most of the songs on the album.  She went on to record the song "The Simple Things" with Jim Brickman.  Now, Rebecca is ready to release her sophomore record, kicking things off with the huge power ballad "Forgive."  Plans are for the new album to be released in August of 2002.

Rebecca Lynn Howard may not be a household name yet, but it's only a matter of time until that changes.  "The most important thing is that I keep my priorities in order and remain true to myself," she says. "The rest will take care of itself."
