New Zealand trip - September 2005
Lydia and Rebecca went to New Zealand for 2.5 weeks in September. We met Richard and Millie there.  We stayed in Wellington for the most part, but we also visited friends in Palmerston North and we did some sight-seeing around some other small towns near Wellington.

We stayed in Wellington at the Philips' house.  But we didn't get to see the Philips' because they were in Greece on holiday - that was very sad!!  (well happy for them I guess but sad that we couldn't visit with them).  We did get to have a nice time with Alex Philips, who stayed home because she is in university now.

In Wellington we were able to see lots of friends. We visited with Roger and Jenny Carter, the Kennys, Margaret Gordon, Ruth and Josh, Shani and Joji and Shashwit, the Hargreaves including 3 week old Isabella, Doug and Angela, Fiona and Brian and little Emma, and Anne Jones and her new family.

We also visited Palmerston North for a couple of days.  It was a quick visit, but we did have a chance to stay with Bob and Sandy Hargreaves and have a nice visit with them, then we had a short but nice visit with Pam.  We also were able to see Heather Adlam, Joy Cullen, and Ross and Ali.  These are all really long time friends of Rebecca's parents.  It was fun catching up.

The weather for our stay in New Zealand was beautiful.  It is springtime and the yellow Kowhai trees are blooming.  Even the red Pohutukawa trees are starting to bloom (it's early for them because they are usually in full bloom by Christmas time).  Spring flowers were out in full effect - the botanical gardens had a wonderful display of beautiful tulips.  The weather was cool but sunny.  We were wearing jackets when the sun was down and long sleeves when the sun was out.  It was perfect weather for seeing Wellington and also doing some hiking around the area.
