| This is a poem by one of my friends. I won't put her name up for safety reasons and I'm not trying to take the credit. The poet knows who she is and if you're reading this, I think I forgot to thank you when I got the poem, so thanks a bunch for letting me use it! Nine-One-One Frozen with shock too great for fear Hell is roaring in my ears. Screams reaching through the walls And echoing with pain down bleeding halls. What happened? No one knows. Should I stay or should I go? Then louder than the bloody screams, The roar of a flooding, raging stream. Suddenly hell breaks through the door, And flames and smoke inward pour. I surge to the window on shaking knees We huddle like mice with nowhere to flee. I cannot see. I cannot breathe. I feel my consciousness begin to leave. Then a searing scream cuts the air To match those drifting from the stairs. And someone plunges toward the ground. My heart is shaking from the sound. A dozen more decide to leap While all around me people weep. My skin cracks and peels from the flame And I think I hear someone call my name... I realize now that I am caught And I must decided---should I jump or not? --JKB <--Back |
