Note: I have an issue with all that 'Harry Potter is Satan's work' crap. The people who say that obviously have A) no sense of imagination or adventure, B) no idea how helpful the Harry Potter books have been to children all around the world, and C) no sense whatsoever. And you can't say it's a religion thing because I have two friends whose parents are considerably religious (and Christian) and all of them love the books too, so don't tell me that only Satan's followers would read them. Now I know that the actions of a few do not reflect the sentiments of all, but to those few who are trying to terrorize the rest of us, stop it. It's childish. So if you have a problem with Harry Potter, don't bother e-mailing me to tell me I'm going to Hell. I will either laugh at you and ignore you or rip your mentality to shreds with my own return flame because obviously, if I deserve to go to Hell for reading these great books, you deserve to go to Hell for being a close-minded jerk. Okay, I'm done.
Disclaimer: Mine? Yeah right! I wish! They belong to J.K. Rowling (she's a genius) and all other people involved with the books' creation and publishing and selling. I borrow them for inspiration and then I return them. Don't hurt me.
Claimer: I will have you know that Kerra, Skadi, Thor, Freyja, Frey, Nyx, Kerra's wand, her abilities, some of Snape's dueling talents, the American Whiptail, the Marineslash, the Slytherin pjs, Artius Pintor and his works, and Professor Thanatos are all mine.
The Christmas gift snitch, Alicia, Joanne Cunning, and everything associated with St. Jude's Academy for the Exceptionally Gifted were my sister's idea. Oh . . . She makes up spells, too.

Warnings: Um . . . a little language, a little violence, OOC-ness for certain (Snape especially) and other stuff I can't think of off hand. Also, except for the first fic, the rest will probably follow the books more than the movies (that's the way it's heading now, anyway) so dundundundun for all you people who hate follow-alongs. By the way, this sort-of AU series has an original character who people in certain circles might view to be a Mary-Sue despite how I've tried to flesh her (yes, her) out. If that's the case for you, I'm sorry you feel that way.

A note to follow, since my archive is currently so small--my sister has a fic at the end of this page. It's not up yet, but she is very enthusiastic about it and from what I've read it's coming along nicely. Go ahead and take a peek down there to read the overview!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Harry's first year begins with finding himself an enemy in Draco Malfoy. If that wasn't enough, a girl who seems to have Animagus powers is put in Slytherin House by the Sorting Hat. He finds out she's the adopted daughter of his least favorite teacher--Severus Snape. Even so, she doesn't display the typical signs of a Slytherin and she--best of all--can't stand Malfoy either. Perhaps there is indeed something to be said for those who come in with a bang and steadfastly refuse to leave with a mere whimper.

Spell 1

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Kerra spends her first summer with Muggles and can't say she's fond of the experience, so she's relieved when the Weasleys rescue she and Harry. Then she gets wiped off the Quidditch team thanks to Peeves and is replaced by Malfoy, who has more money than talent. Worse, because of whatever is in the school she becomes stuck part of the way between a human and a dragon. As a last blow to her sanity, she ends up keeping watch in the corridors at night to find the creature, its master, or both of them. She's hardly amused.

Spell 1

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Having surprised even herself, Kerra decides to spend the summer with Malfoy, much to Harry's distress. Suffering several close calls with Lucius Malfoy, she finds out that the Potters' murderer has escaped Azkaban. Her time in school is clogged with her adopted father's disapproval of her association with the new Defense teacher and her continued association with Harry. It comes to a head, leaving her with mounds of detention for one small mishap. In the meantime, she cares for and befriends a large black dog new to the grounds . . .

Spell 1

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Anticipating a trip to see the Quidditch World Championship, Kerra is put on guard by her adopted father's sudden unusual behavior. His warning comes true and this time, she is prepared. However, she is not prepared for the utter cliche-ness of being pulled into the Triwizard Tournament with Harry. Despite that unfortunate reality, she does the best she can in avoiding trouble--though it does find her on occasion. Still, her worst fear comes true as her adopted father agrees to resume the dangerous tip-toe at the edge of death he had begun years ago.

Spell 1

Sidestory One: Past Memories

An AU fifth-year--and the second sidestory written--finds Kerra not at the mercy of a toady Inquisitor, but locked twenty years in the past. Panicked and unable to find her way back, Kerra is integrated into the classes and forced to face the people she least wanted to see--her adopted father and the Marauders, at each other's throats as always. Trying not to take sides and repel Sirius' attempts to seduce her all at once, she discovers that being in such an uncomfortable situation can lead to some unnaturally brilliant thinking.

Spell 1

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

An enigma to the Wizengamot, Kerra finds herself with a small advantage. It does her no good, though, outside of the Ministry and when the new Defense teacher is revealed, she knows there will be trouble. However, she is unprepared for the nightmares that begin to plague her. She sees herself as a vile, dangerous being under the command of the Dark Lord who doesn't even respect her adopted father. It is only at the end that she discovers what she truly is and why she is a danger not only to herself, but to those around her.

Spell 1

Sidestory Two: Insufficient Growth

An AU sixth year--and the first sidestory written--comes in upon an accident and places an unprepared Kerra in the role of a single parent. Juggling her studies, teaching classes, and taking care of her infant adopted father, she searches for a cure. Three near-failures result in a tough decision to add Malfoy to her 'family', then a teenage adopted father who is more obnoxious than usual because of his condition, and at last, an all but normal adopted father who she can finally trust to take care of himself when she isn't looking.

Sidestory Three: Colonial Vacation

An AU seventh-year summer. In such a case of N.E.W.T.s and graduation jitters, a vacation is always good. So is an informative tour in a strange place. Which is why Kerra, even though she thinks it unwise, tags along on an unchaperoned trip to America. It changes from a great photo opportunity to a fascinating and humbling visit with a family of wild but incredibly intelligent American Whiptails waiting quietly to be taken to the Hekate University of Magic for study and safekeeping. Who said all dragons were incapable of cooperation?

Spell 1

Harry Potter and the Duplicitous Voldemort

It's sixth year and Harry has been given the chance to become the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Now, between obnoxious students and dubious colleagues, he must discover the reason behind Voldemort's latest attacks and why they have become uncharacteristic and increasingly erratic. Left with no other option, he finds himself drawn into an unwilling alliance with those he least expected . . .
