In the year 2026, an archeological expedition in Lake Papoose, Nevada discovered a portal to an ancient city on Mars. They called this portal "The Ark". Twenty years later, scientists were still struggling to understand why the Ark was built and what happened to the civilization that built it. The Union Aerospace Corpration, or U.A.C. constructed extensive research and housing facility within the ancient city, known as Olduvai, to continue studying the archeological discovery while also providing additional labroratories for the study of genetics, advanced weaponry developent and testing. |

I was born John Grimm. My younger sister, Samantha and I lived on Olduvai with our parents, who were studying the artifacts recovered from the excavation site. As children, we embraced our parent's passion for science and the quest for knowledge. While Samantha was forever consumed with theory, I tended to focus on application and experimentation. When I was twelve years old, Sam and I watched both of our parents die in a massive cave in. The U.A.C. ordered the site sealed and Samantha and I were sent back to earth to live with our grandmother. In our adult lives, my sister and I took radically different paths. Samantha chose to follow in our parent's footsteps, to become a forensic archeologist, then returning to Olduvai to continue the search for the answers buried beneath the rubble. |

Embittered by the loss of my parents, I turned my back on science and joined the Marines. I became a commando and was assigned to the elite rapid response tactical squad or R.R.T.S "Hellfighters", stationed in Twenty-Nine Palms, California. I had seen more than my share of action during my time with the unit, however, nothing that I had ever ever experienced could have prepared me for the events that followed a distress call from U.A.C. geneticist, Dr. Carmack on Olduvai, who reported a level 5 breach. Against the advice of my senior NCO, "Sarge", I chose to return to Olduvai with my squad to contain the breach, protect U.A.C. personel and recover data from the facility computers. The mission was classified as CODE RED, which authorized the unit to accomplish it's objectives by any means necessary upto and including "Search and Destroy". |
