Upon our arrival to Olduvai, We initiated standard six hour quarantine procedures, effectively suspending all ARK travel. Searching the facility hall by hall, room by room. The discovery of severed limbs and blood escalated our tactical posture almost immediatly, yet we still had no idea what we were up against. We did finally locate Dr. Carmak, who was badly tramatized. Upon our discovering him, the good doctor ripped off his own left ear. Very unnerving. Continuing our sweep, we encountered another scientist, who was feeding on the lab animals. This man charged us with a scalpel and was summarily dispatched. In the next few hours, our numbers were diminished significantly, with Goat dying at the hands of some form of humaniod creature. Only Goat didn't die. He was clinically dead but somehow he became infected with some sort of pathogen which reanimated his dead flesh. Goat must have known that this was happening to him, because he opted to commit suicide before he was taken over completely. It was then that an autopsy of one of the fallen creatures had revealled a startling discovery. These creatures were not aliens. They were mutated humans.
After reviewing the U.A.C. database, we learned that the scientists had discovered that this ancient race had a 24th chromosome, one more than humans have. This extra chromosome gave this race super strength and increased cellular division by 50% which results in almost instantaneous healing. Dr. Carnack had secured a convicted murder, condemned to death to be used as a test subject for human trials of the C-24 synthesized from the fossilized remains of a mother and her child. Samantha and I watched the video log in horror as the subject was restrained, injected and allowed to turn. In a matter of minutes there were physical manifestations of genetic mutation on the subject's extremities. The mental state of the subject also degraded to the most basic instincts and reflexes... the drive to feed and increase it's number. The componets within C-24 seemed to bring out the evil locked inside of the subject. The result was infact, pure evil. The video log ended with the newly mutated creature escaping it's bonds to attack it's keepers. |
