TRIBES: Aerial Assault
TRIBES: AERIAL ASSAULT
By Billy

STORY

It is the 40th century. On the frontier Wilderzone of human space, hardy neo-barbarian tribes compete for possession of new worlds. Tribal warriors enter combat in powered armor, relying on skill and bravery to win glory.
Now the BioDerm Hordes have started to invade tribal space. Though the tribes boast of being the finest warriors humanity has ever produced, they face a genetically modified race that has literally bred itself for battle. The stakes are epic, and the Wilderzone is aflame with a new kind of war.

Overview
The game has a pretty basic game plot and delivers decent game play. Protect your base or destroy the enemies. The game has a much better value as an on-line product, if anything else. Although the solo campaign is rather nice, it isnt TRIBES as TRIBES was meant to be,MULTI-PLAYER.

PROS
Multi-Player action, and plenty of it. Even though  there is no on-line chat, you can figure out the game and the objectives of your fellow teammates rather easily. The graphics are to great. The graphics are really surprising and smooth,FLUID. The environments are huge. You will notice that the areas arent too in-depth, thus allowing highly detailed characters to maneuver about with out any slow down or hyper-jumping. The weapons are nice, but the sound effects of the weapon firing are even better. 16 player on-line shooter, what more can you ask for in that?!

CONS

The game lacks something, somewhere, hmm. The campaign mode isnt the greatest, and neither are the controls. The difficulty setting is,well, lets just say that it isnt the easiest game to get used to. You WILL get frustrated, often. On of the biggest problems I had within the game is the re-spawning. You re-spawn (which is good) in 3rd person (which is bad). Re-spawning in 3rd person disables your firing of any weapons at that moment in time. Thats really bad.

Overall
Tribes: Aerial Assault was meant as an on-line game. Your best bet is to play it in that manner. If you do, youll have one of the best games meant for on-line gaming. As stated before, campaign mode might not suit your needs, I would suggest trying Timesplitters 2 (or 1,..1 was very good) and Red Faction 2 (or 1,1 was good too). My score: 7
