Robotech: Battlecry
By: Billy
Overview
I remember watching this cartoon series (Robotech) way back when,I guess Im THAT old. Regardless, the cartoon series was simply awesome. When Robotech Battlecry was scheduled for release, I was anxious and eager to get my hands on a copy. With this cel-shaded shooter, TDK brings back childhood memories. But this time, you play the hero, as opposed to just watching. TDK does a fine job incorporating the cartoon with the game. The anime (Japanese cartoon) and the voice characterization are those of the original cast from the cartoon series. Battling the Large alien beings with a Veritech fighter to save the existence of mankind?sounds real cool to me. Transform from Fighter to Guardian to Battloid to overcome massive odds against the enemy.
PROS
Cel-shaded graphics offer simplistic linear lines. So, hundreds of missiles appearing on the screen at one time, along with your Fighter AND to or more alien ships is not a problem for the console to handle. In essence, youve got the same action in the game, as you did watching the cartoon series. Very impressive and mind blowing - ballistic action. The story (for me anyway) is easy to follow. But, if you have not seen the cartoon, you may not quite understand the protocol that they are always talking about. But, it is pretty easy to follow. |
