Overview

Race the tracks, cars, and stars from the thrilling world of NASCAR and create your own legendary champion.
I thought that this game was simply about LEFT TURNS. I found out that I was both right, and wrong. It does have a lot of LEFT TURNS, BUT, the strategy behind the LEFT TURNS is what really makes this game great.

PROS

Graphics
Graphics are fantastic. The replays are nice (taking only high-lights of the race, opposed to the whole race). Realistic damage makes all the difference when it comes to racing games, and believe me, this games got it. The ability to create your own car and customize it with the color scheme, model, and sponsors, makes for individuality. Smooth running and flawless. Even with about 40+ cars on the field at once, the game has no slow-downs.

Game play
The game play itself is great. Although the concept is rather old, the style at which youll play this game is unique and totally up to you and your driving style. Controls are simple and can be easily reconfigured if need be.

Replay
NASCAR Thunder 20002 keeps you revving for more. Youll want to keep that edge and keep trying to maintain first place throughout the season. Multi-player mode is also great.

CONS
The game lacks in the sound department. The sounds are descent, but the volume of your pit crew could use a little tune up. The game tends to only play the same sound track over and over. Of course you can change this, but how about adding at least 2 or 3 other songs in the game during the stats or menu screens.

Overall
NASCAR Thunder 2002 was a surprising and eye-opening experience, that changed the way I view past and future NASCAR games. This game is very good and is very addictive. With its new version already out, NASCAR Thunder 2003, this title may be left out in the cold. But if you can find it rather cheap, by all means, I suggest picking it up. My score: 9
