What do you do after you escape from imprisonment and find a beautiful girl who is also imprisoned? Bust her out and drag her with you wherever you go. Ico is a puzzle/strategy game where you not only have to watch out for yourself, but a beautiful princess as well, all while eluding the bad guys responsible for your imprisonment. Put on your thinking caps for this one, people! (And a patience cap, as well)
The Pros
The Concept
The challenge of this game lies not only within the puzzles, but the fact that you must literally haul the princess around by pulling her, or calling to her, for she must follow you across every gap, over every wall, and through every door. Sure, it is difficult, but how many other games are like this?
The ingenuity of this game is what appeals most to gamers.
The Graphics
Ico has some beautiful environments within the game. For the most part, you are in a large room or outside, and the surroundings are just massive. And man, are they in detail! The perspective and the detail deterioration of these huge environments are truly life-like. Also, the characters look well done, especially the princess because she is the only in the game that appears to be animated rather than polygonal, which is cool.
