The Bouncer
The Bouncer
By Alan

What do you do when your girlfriend (or female friend rather) gets kidnapped by an evil corporation?  Grab your fellow bouncer buddies and go after her!  You are Sion, a young but tough-as-nails guy, with a strong sense of justice.  (Is it just me, or does Sion somewhat resemble an older version of Sora, from Kingdom  Hearts .. hmmmm ..both are SquareSoftmaybe)  So you will punch and kick your way through this nasty corporation until you get the girl, and beat the man!

The Pros

The Graphics

Whoa!  Talk about some sweet graphics! The Bouncer offers some really smooth looking FMVs.  Not to mention a load of detail.  But the animation seems a little different compared to other FMVs.  Im sure theres a proper term for this, but it looks as if the characters almost have a sort of glow to them.  You can sorta tell by these screens but I guess I really cant explain.  Just play the game and see for yourself.

The Cons

The Length

Skip through all the cutscenes and FMVs, and you can whiz through the game in about 30-45 minutes, which really blows for a game with as much potential as The Bouncer.  Plus, the game is all pretty much just button mashing.  This can get kind of boring once you go through the game once or twice already.

The Multiplayer Mode

What really would have made this game is a Co-Op story mode, which would have been really sweet.  I mean, come on, whats more fun than kickin the butts of your enemies?  Kickin butt with your friends, thats what.  The only MP mode offered in this game is a Versus mode, which is kind of lame, although you can play up to 4 players.

In The End

The Bouncer is an ok game.  Definitely not worth $50, which is what I paid for it when it first came out.  But I would recommend it if you see it for a good price.  It is an impressive looking game for the PS2 and should as least be tried.  The Bouncer gets a 7.
