| Splashdown By Alan Finally, a SeaDoo game for the PS2. Ever since WaveRace 64 for the Nintendo 64, fans have been waiting for a good jet ski/ seadoo video game to land on one of the next-gen systems. Splashdown comes to the PS2 with great gameplay, excellent graphics, and a killer soundtrack. The Pros The Graphics Splashdown offers some beautiful graphics in the character models, the vehicles, and the environments. Also, the water effects are some of the best Ive seen on any game, although the splashes could have used a little work. But the ripple effects look very true to life. The animation is very smooth in the characters and their movements on the SeaDoo and while performing tricks. The Cons The Fun Factor Splashdown can be quite entertaining but it does get a little boring an repetitious after a couple hours. There is not much of a challenge offered by the AI and the level difficulty, which adds the dullness. After the first race, I was getting first place every time thereafter and no new modes of gameplay other than time trial and stunt mode, which arent very impressive. Splashdown does get old rather fast. In The End This is an OK game. I wouldnt recommend buying it, but definitely rent it. It can be a fun game to rent every now and then. Although it cant compare to the graphics of Splashdown, WaveRace 64 is still the best jet ski/ seadoo game out there. Splashdown doesnt even come close when compared to WaveRaces gameplay and fun factor. 6.75 is my score for Splashdown. |
