The Alternate Endings
Just as in the first Silent Hill, this game has multiple endings, depending on who you help, what items you pick up, etc. It�s almost like having DVD extras in the game. The alternate endings make players want to see those endings, at least they do me. After playing other traditional 3rd person horror games, you�re pretty much done with them. Silent Hill 2 offers a bit more. Now the question is, will the alternate endings be worth it to the gamers who are not fans of this genre?

The Gameplay
As in the first Silent Hill, I found it rather difficult, at times, to control my character. The movements are kinda jumpy and sudden. I was hoping Konami would improve on this aspect of the game. Also, the levels and different environments didn�t impress me. They just seemed too similar to its predecessor. Although, they looked a lot better, it just seemed like I was playing Silent Hill 1 all over again. All Silent Hill 2 needed was just a few new features within the game that Silent Hill 1 didn�t offer.
To me, it feels like Konami rushed through this process. The dialogue and narrations between characters seemed rather bland. Many times, there just wasn�t any emotion behind a characters voice when there needed to be. But I do admit, the voice-acting has improved from the first one.

Silent Hill 2, although a great game, will only appeal to fans of the first installment and fans of Resident Evil-type games. Its main points are the graphics and the sound, which are truly excellent, not just for horror games, but all types of games. With a little more creative insight and time spent, this game would have easily received a 10, but with its noticeable flaws, I give this game a score of 8.75.
