MLB Slugfest 2003

Overview

Midway breaks the barrier with this off the hook title.  Known for the past NFL Blitz series and fairly new NHL Hitz, Midway brings forth a new breed to an old game, MLB SLUGFEST 2003.  Endorsed by the highest paid baseball player on earth, Alex Rodriguez, hmm, pay him MORE money, ok, you can expect great things for this Midway title.  Its basic baseball mixed with some of the things that are actually IN todays baseball, just made more simpler.

PROS

Midway fans, this is a must have! Ive noticed in the past that some baseball games tend to get boring as time goes on, and you tend to play game after game after game, until you reach your goal, the World Series.  If youre a big baseball fan, like I am, you can relate.  The rosters are simplified to the starters, so going through the entire team for subs and pinch hitters no longer exists.  If you are familiar with any of the Midway titles, you pretty much know that all realism in the sport games are nada.  Game control is purely simple and the game play will keep you busy until you reach you goal, whether it be the World Series title, home run guru or the guy that likes to bean everybody.  This is the game that even non-baseball fans would enjoy.  The graphics are the best of all the baseball games currently out to date.  The player models are dazzling and the mechanics at which they react/move are second to none.  The part of the game that keeps me up playing is the depth at which players can either slide and stick his cleats into the defender, throw an elbow, jump kick the catcher to try and score or (as the pitcher) bean the batter in either the head, arm or leg, decreasing his stats (head-batting, arm-power, leg-speed).  But also remember, the batter may charge the mound after being beaned, pumping UP his stats, opposed to decreasing them.
