| The Sound Chrono Cross has one of the best soundtracks I have heard in a video game. It is wonderfully orchestrated by Yasunori Mitsuda. The soundtrack has a type of Jungle, mixed with Old World, with a touch of a Utopia or Paradise-like sound. Many of the songs kinda remind of some Dave Matthews Band songs, especially with the excessive use of the violin. I guess its kinda hard to explain. If you play the game, youll see what I mean. The Cons The Characters The character design is not what bothers me about this game. The design of each character is amazing and commendable. But what does bother me, is the ridiculous amount of characters within the game. To my understanding, there are over 40 characters that can join your group. Now, this sounds like an RPG gamers dream come true, but the large amount of characters just doesnt work. For more than half the characters, there is no developmental story or background for them. Many of the obtainable characters just kinda join your group outta nowhere, which I feel isnt something to brag about, which is what SquareSoft did when Chrono Cross first came out. In The End Chrono is a great RPG, which Im afraid will only appeal to RPG gamers. Even though the story is a bit complex and difficult to understand at times, it contains all the elements needed to tell a good story. It is truly worthy as a sequel to its predecessor, Chrono Trigger. I give Chrono Cross a score of 9.25. |
