Chapter One: Dead Seas - Cocoon
The fog rolls in from the hateful obsidian sea and a young sailor, Nacase, finds himself alone at the wheel of his ship. He leans his head on the wheel, blonde hair falling in lose strands around his face, it'd been a while since he'd been at port and his hair was due for a cutting. His faded green eyes scanned the darkness. Nothing...not a light...not even a star,...just darkness. He shook his head staring in the fog. It seemed to have a life of its own; traveling slowly and aimless across the waves in a white trail that seemed to be ever heading towards the boat.
The winds were calm and the sea was gentle despite her colour, and soon the quiet rocking set him to sleep. He awoke sometime later with an unexplainable feeling a dread and terror. He shook his head in an attempt to free it from him but it lingered. Glancing into the water he realizes the fog had risen and he was once again left with the lifeless...starless scene. He turned his attention back to his boat and almost lept from his skin when he saw what was before him.
The fog had lifted from the waters but now it filled the boat! That had been what had frightened him so when he'd awoken. For as he looked around he noticed that two of his crew were unconcious upon the ground, where, probably upon the same frightened feeling, came up to investigate. So why was he the only one awake? He shook his head and gazed into the sea for answers. To his surprise [again] he was greeted by a single star that shone brilliantly in the sky. He stared into the star and suddenly he saw something float down from it, a dark figure like night that shone with stars from the very sky.
A beautiful winged creature lands before him and folds back its wings, looking intently at Nacase. *I've been watching you for a long time. Your mind is open and your heart is free. Please take this cocoon and care for it. One day it will hatch into a young Egyptan which will stay with you on your lonesome journeys.* Nacase was shocked, he had no clue what to say, so he simply nodded and extended his hand to recieve the cocoon. The Egyptan laid the cocoon into his hand then extended his wings and launched into the air. Returning to the star from which he'd came.
Now Nacase only had to wait. To his surprise he was highly anxious to discover what would emerge from the cocoon. So he removed his jacket setting it upon the post that supported the wheel and gently laid the cocoon into the small makeshift *nest*.
