For centuries has used Mortal Kombat to defend itself agaist the out world emper or Sho Kahn, But Shao Kahn has become frustrated by the failed attempts at taking Erath through tornament battle. He enacts a plan which began 10,000 years ago.
During this time, Kahn had a queen named Sindel, but she died at a very young age. Kahn's shadow priests lead by Shang Tsung, make it so Sindel's sprit would someday be reborn not on the Outworld, but on the Earth relam itself.
This unholy act gives Shao Kahn to step throught dimensional gates enables him reclam his queen. Thus enabling him to finally seize the Earth realm. Upon breaching the portal on to Earth, Shao Kahn slowly transform the planet into part of the Outworld itself.
Kahn strips the Earth of all humans life, and claims all the souls for his own. But there souls which Kahn. Can not take, these souls that belong to the warriors. Chosen to represent Eart in a new Mortal Kombat. The remainng humans are scattered through the plannet. Shao Kahn sends an army of fierce warriors. These warriors is to find and eliminate them.
