| In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the members of the ward (an assigned geographical area) fulfill positions that are needed to carry out the functions of the ward. Unlike many churches, all of the positions are not paid. Instead, the bishop 'calls' a member to voluntarily serve in the position referred to as a 'calling'. Faithful members see callings as a way to serve the Lord and His Church. |
