| Quick Info
One of the most remarkable aircraft produced by the German aero industry during the Nazi regime, the Storch remains a vivid example of Gerhard Fiesler's interest in STOL aircraft with powerful high-lift devices. This is borne by some remarkable statistics: the Storch could takeoff in 65 metres, land in 20m and virtually hover in a 25m/ph wid without any loss of control. Resulting from a 1935 requirement for an army co-operation, casualty evacuation and liasion airplane, the Fi 156 first flew in the spring of 1936 and entered service in 1937. Variants
