H6K1   Initial production version
H6K2 Model 2/Model 11   Changed to Model 11 when the Navy changed in its aircraft-designation system in 1940. Minor internal changes (10 built) 
H6K3   Seventh and eighth H6K2s were converted into staff transports
H6K4   Increased fuel capacity, dorsal turret replaced by two beam “blisters”each housing a single 7.7mm machine gun, 
two other hand-held guns of this caliber were housed in the nose position and in an open dorsal position, in the tail was a hand-held 20mm cannon. Later H6K4s were re-engined with Kinsei 46s (127 built)
H6K5   New engines, open nose gun position replaced with a proper nose turret
H6K2-L   Transport conversion of H6K4, with the increased fuel tankage, no armament (16 built)
H6K4-L   Extra windows along the sides of the passenger cabins, retained the glazed tail gun position no armament (22 built)
20 of the transport variants, code-named 'Tillie', were used by the Imperial Navy as staff transports
