Robert Inhuman interviews Taylor Wane, October 2006

Robert Inhuman: What was your initial motivation in becoming a model and how has it changed over time? Also, is there an online biography of your career that you would most recommend for anyone interested in learning your history?

Taylor Wane: There is a full biography of my career and achievements at www.taylorwane.com I am not sure that my motivation has changed at all. I got into modeling because it was fun and gave me an opportunity to meet new people and travel. I've achieved that and much more.

How are variables such as location, clothing, etc. chosen for shoots and who directs/curates your projects?

I choose everything. I have been producing my own movies and photo spreads including my Penthouse cover and centerfold, for over 12 yrs. now. I know how I want to look, and I like to make sure that happens. I always set out to have the most fun I possibly can while working, therefore if there themes are of my choosing, then I'm sure to have a good time.

What is your favorite aspect of your career and are there specific projects that have been most rewarding?

I love all aspects of my career, I love the variety of it. Movies, magazines, modeling, events, conventions, it is all fun and interesting. The highlights of my career have been when I graced the cover and centerfold of Penthouse Magazine and  the first time I laid my eyes on the artwork that Olivia De Bernadinis inked of me. Both were great achievements for a model. As a nude model there are certain goals or dreams you aspire to reach one day. Penthouse, Playboy, or Olivia De Bernadinis drawing you, these are accomplishments that models dream of getting.

How important is a balance between reality and illusion in your work? As an artist and sexual icon how do factors of illusion come into consideration for projects ie. photo technique, body language and alteration, etc?

Some people like to say, Oh keep it real, but all photography or filmography to some degree is illusion if you want it to look good. Things have to be tweaked and staged to   make the end result look professional. I refer a little fantasy to any of my work. I love costumes and makeup, I think it makes a film or picture so much more erotic if the women are made up to be more fantasy like. I can keep it real in the gym any day of the week.

What is your reaction or statement to people who have objected to your work at any point? Is justification to these people important to you or not?

I really don't care what other think about my choice of work. It is no ones right to say what is right or wrong for an individual. I cannot bear a man who has warm blood running through his veins tell me what god thinks I can do. If you are a mere human of this earth, as I am, then you don't have any special knowledge of what a human being should or should not be allowed to do. Your own conscience is the voice of god (whatever god that is that you choose to follow or believe in). Nudity and sex is as natural as eating, sleeping and other bodily functions. Obviously in life, some people choose to do things that may harm or endanger another human being, this is rationally the wrong thing to choose to do. Sex with consenting adults, is rational, healthy, and completely acceptable on any level and should not be judged by another as wrong or illegal by neighbor or government.

You've worked in a variety of media over the years, which is most satisfying or appealing? Are there mediums or lines of work as a model you have avoided specifically?

I have worked in a plethora of media forms. I've written for many years for several men’s publications including Swank for 5 years, Busty at present, Erotic X Film guide for 4 years, Lips for 2 years, as well as online articles. I host two radio shows, one for www.Ksexradio.com and the other for private calls, Playboy radio on Sirius 198. I've directed, produced and starred in my own productions for almost 12 years. I've ran, owned, and shot the photography in my own photo studio for over 12 years. I've modeled, been a spokes-model, a live feature entertainer/burlesque dancer and so much more that I'm sure I’m forgetting something. I love that I have been able to have the variety that I have had in all aspects of media. I intend to write a book in time, but I would not want to pick any one of these as the most gratifying as I have been fulfilled by them all.
