Robert O’dent
“Misanthropy Machine”
Fall
2000, 32 page xerox book with 74 min. CDR, follow-up to A.D.M. again audio and
visual parallel in excruciating collage work, this was my project coming out of

Robert O’dent
“Anatomical Diagrams of the Mind”
Spring
2000, 44 page xerox book with 60 min. tape, my first audio release and break
further away from conventional comic/zine format, sickeningly overbearing
collage mania but in the book and tape, my focus towards the end of high
school. Edition of 44.
Robert O’dent, The
Inferno #1
Spring
1999, 20 page xerox book, scathing and gothed-out commentary on teenage life,
very dark and negative. Edition unknown. After this one (I think?) I’d
contributed several drawings to a zine called “Not Satisfied” which was
basically the same pre-blog material mentioned below in reference to another
paper zine.
D.O.A.’s The Novel #5 “a
dictionary for the illiterate”
October
1998, 12 page xerox book, slightly further breaking from traditional comic book
structure and more dark angst replacing the light-hearted, umm, angst. Edition
unknown. Mavis, before he was Mavis of course, published a comic book, “Toady’s
Empire”, shortly after this and labeled it “Angry Youth Comix” like mine, but I
didn’t have anything to do with it’s contents.
D.O.A.’s The Novel #4
“rodents on parade”
June
1998, 20 page xerox book, awkward introduction of collage elements and more
serious social commentary. Edition unknown. After this one I contributed a page
to a comic book by Sean (later Sweatersplash) and Andy called “DETH”. They
labeled it “Angry Youth Comix” like mine, but I didn’t have anything to do with
it’s contents aside from the one page.
D.O.A.’s The Novel #3
“hurray for disease”
March
1998, 12 page xerox book, more cheap thrills and the introduction of lengthy
blocks of poor ranting. Edition unknown. Another kid at school published a
comic book at the same time “Personal Hell”, labeling it “Angry Youth Comix”
like mine, but I didn’t have anything to do with it’s contents.
D.O.A.’s The Novel #2
“the x-mas special”
December
1997, 12 page xerox book, a festive yet more-so confusing sequel. Edition unknown.
Shortly after this book I contributed a page to a zine called “Yer Mom!” which
is basically the sort of paper zine common in the 90’s before the internet
became more popular, replacing xerox/staples with livejournal or myspace sites
(same content largely?)
D.O.A.’s The Novel #1
“if you can read this, you’re not illiderate”
October?
1997, 12 page xerox book, my first publication which was fairly popular because
nobody else at school was printing their own comic books, entirely based on the
manic absurd, I was 15 when this was released, although I’d started drafts of
it the summer of 1996. Edition unknown, approx. 60?
