Crime rates in the U.S. are 1.9%, compare this to
England, with a 3.6% crime rate and you can see how
much of a difference guns make. Car theft rates in
England are more than 2.5%, in Australia, 1.9%, the
U.S. isn’t even on the top ten list. Here’s a quote
from the “Prevent Handgun Violence” web page: “The
next time a credulous friend or acquaintance tells you
that Australia actually suffered more crime when they
got tougher on guns ... offer him a Foster's, and tell
him the facts.” Some people, like them, say that
Australia’s crime rate went down when they banned
guns, they lie. Also, did you notice they say “offer
him a Foster’s”? They’re promoting beer! Is that a
good example to set for the younger people who may
find the page? It actually want up by 2.2% since
then. Now, let’s compare three places in the U.S.
with different views on gun control’s murder rates.
Most murders: Illinois, which has some of the toughest
gun regulations in the country.
Least: Vermont, where any legal firearm can be carried
at any time at any place. You could hold it in your
hands, put it in a holster, even balance it on your
head, you can’t get arrested.
Most likely to be murdered in: Washington D.C., where
all guns are banned.
Finally, a true story. A man broke into a house armed
with a pitchfork, there were 2 teenage girls and a boy
there. The man killed the boy and severely injured
the teenager. I bet you’re wondering what this has to
do with gun control, right? Well, there was a gun in
the house, but since the parents took the “proper
precautions” and locked the gun up, making it
useless(unless it somehow became mobile and broke out
by itself)they were unable to get it.
I think all people should have the right to defend
themselves in any way they want, whether it’s with a
gun, knife, fish, or a strange tendency to act insane,
it’s their choice.
