| Here are some of the more basic answers to some #BBW-REAL and mIRC questions. Don't see your question posted here? Please Ask us! Want to submit a FaQ you have written? E-Mail it to us! Q: What is the mIRC, where is Dalnet and how do I get there? A: mIRC is an internet relay chat (IRC) program. You can download it at: www.mIRC.com. Dalnet is a group of servers linked together to form a net: www.dal.net. After downloading and settting up mIRC, go to 'options' and click on 'connect' (along the right-side menu). To the right there will be a field that reads: 'IRC Servers'. Change that to 'Dalnet'. Below that field there is a list of dalnet servers, pick one (see our Links page for the best places to find good servers) and hit 'Connect to IRC Server'. It may take a few moments to find a server. After connecting type /join #BBW-REAL in the bottom text field of the status window. After getting on to the channel chat away and have fun! Just be respectful! Q: There is (are) a person (people) disrupting the channel, causing a problem and none of the Operators are online, what should I do? A: IGNORE THEM! (Or mock them freely- your choice) Type: /ignore 'their nick' and they will not be able to talk to you or message you. Also, tell an Operator when they come in. Q: What are the basic commands I need to know to begin navigating around the mIRC? A: Type these commands in any text window: /join 'Channel Name' (ie. /join #BBW-REAL will take you to our room) /me 'Action' (ie. /me Kisses the pretty girls! -will say your nick Kisses the pretty girls!) /ignore 'Nick' (ie. /ignore PIA -will keep you from seeing anything PIA says and they will not be able to message you or dcc you) /part 'Channel' (will depart you from the channel) These way super duper handy tips are compliments of ^^Dain-Bramage^^ who is forever and tirelessly tutoring all of us in the ways of the confusing mIRC. |
