Xian
The first Imperial Capital

Xian was the first official capital of China. Emperor Qin Shi Huang was considered its first emperor because he united China. He was a great and mighty emperor who also began the building of the Great Wall. The terracotta soldiers that resembled each member of his army were created to keep him company in the afterlife. The amazing structures that he created in life which represented him in death are some of the most wondrous structures in this world.
The city itself is still surrounded by a city wall. City walls were very important back in imperialistic days because it protected the capital from invasion.
Some sights to visit: Big Pagoda (not too impressive of a structure but is well known as the destination of the monk in the famous epic novel "Journey to the West"), Terracotta soldiers, and the outdoor eateries.
