Peru - hiking the Inca Trail
Hiking the Inca Trail and seeing Machu Picchu was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. It sits close to the top to my trip to Egypt. The hike itself was a gnarly 4 days but well worth it when we arrived at Machu Picchu. It was not only an amazing adventure, it allowed me to learn more about myself and in many ways, a spiritual journey to knowing myself. It also gave me some new perspective on people and life and the bonds that can be made or broken with a trip like this.

With high altitude and new environment, it took some time to acclimate. It seemed like everyone was sick at some point but I fought through it and had the best time. After hiking the trail, Renee and I went to Lake Titicaca in Puno (highest elevated lake in the world) and just relaxed a bit before heading back to Lima, the capital of Peru. In Lima, we laid out in the sun on a rocky beach and visited some more ruins (Pachacamac). Overall, it was a beautiful trip. The people of Peru are so hospitable and friendly. It made me sad to come back to Los Angeles where people isolated in their cars and don't seem to care about others.
