My World of Cinema

Films! Films! Films! I love films! What can I say? I love all movies, whether good or bad. At one point in my life, my strongest passion was to make films but now I am quite content with just watching them. Like many other film lovers, the reason I love films is because it takes you away from reality, even for a mere moment. It is, to quote my friend Gavin, "all about the story."
2000 - I love Classic Hollywood Films. I used to go to the Stanford Theater (they still have a Wurlitzer playing in between films) all the time to catch up on my Classics. It is incredible to watch Classics like "Rebel without a Cause" and "A Place in the Sun" on the big screen.

Favorite studios: I actually love all the studios but my favorite has to be

Warner Bros.
(who I now work for!)

Favorite directors: Tim Burton , David Fincher, and Baz Luhrmann.
Of course, the ultimate awesome director has to be, the master of suspense,Alfred Hitchcock.

My all time favorite actor has to be Jimmy Stewart.
I also love Gene Kelly (my musical favorite) and James Dean.

Awesome Indie and Cult Films:
* I finally saw "A Clockwork Orange" by Stanley Kubrick. Quite disturbing and so well done. This one is definitely a brain challenging film (and don't get me wrong, I love no-brainer films...if you do, too.. check out "Half Baked").
* I also saw "Chunking Express" by Wang Kar Wai (One of Quentin Taratino's favorites). It is a great Hong Kong film starring Faye Wong and Bridget Lin. This is not what you typically expect from the HK film industry. It is quite artsy and very similar to "Days of Being Wild" starring (one of my favorite Asian actors, Leslie Cheung), another piece of Wang's work.

My recommendation for 1999's best film: "La Vita E Bella" (Roberto Benigni is so awesome.. did you see him during the Oscars?)
