Kunming

Kunming
The Capital of Yunnan Province

This is one city I spent a lot of time in. It is located more towards the north of Yunnan. Yunnan Province is the most southwest province in China (it borders Myanmar). The uniqueness of this province is that it is the one province with the most Chinese minorities inhabiting it. In China, there are 55 minorities of Chinese descent. The "majority" culture is the Han Chinese. In Yunnan, there are about thirty some minorities living in the province.
The first time I was in Yunnan, it was wintertime but was still quite warm. What I loved about Kunming was that it had what I missed the most about California: the weather. It was sunny and quite warm all year round. Kunming is a small well developed city with many inhabitants (just like the rest of the cities in China). The only reason I feel attached to this city was that I have family and friends there. The city is quite unique in its own way. There are many universities located in the city.
The minorities village is also in the city. Minorities village is a huge area of land where different minorities build their homes. They live there for the purpose of having tourists go in and learn about their way of live and their culture. It was quite interesting to visit the minorities village. Within the many minorities, there still exist one minority that lives in a matriarchal culture. The many minorities that inhabit minorities village are the Wa minority, Dai minority, Bai minority, Naxi minority, etc. Most of the minorities in the village are minorities from the south. There is also a minorities village located in Beijing that are inhabited by northern minorities like Tibetans, Mongolians, Uegers, etc.
