Guilin is considered one of the most beautiful places in China. It is famous for its gorgeous landscape of rolling hills and winding rivers. In the city itself, it is more commercialized and there is not much to see. But if you take a boat down the Lijiang river, you encounter a totally different scene. The mist covers the river and creates this gorgeous view that takes your breath away. You feel like you have stepped into one of those famous classical landscape paintings. When we were there, we hired a man to take us down the river in his boat (which is actually not a boat but a floating platform made by tying together four wooden logs). It was so peaceful and you can't help but be nostalgic for that simple life of the past in which you have never experienced before.
