Beijing
I lived in Beijing the longest because I studied abroad for a year here at Peking University (known as the Harvard of the East).
I attended Tsinghua University during the summer and then transferred over to Peking University.
Beijing is an interesting city, one that you love and hate at the same time. Like most world capitals, it's more diverse than the rest of the country. All kinds of people co-exist in this city from businessmen to street vendors, from farmers to scholars, etc. Population wise, Beijing is the largest city in China. These days, Beijing is growing quickly into a modern economic society while at the same time retaining its history and traditional culture.
Sights to visit in Beijing: Tianamen Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Lama Temple, Great Wall Of China (45 min. away), Ming tomb, and the hutongs (little ancient alleyways - quickly fading away into the history of China). There is just too much to see in Beijing, so take your time and wander through.
Beijing is famous for: Peking Opera, Peking Duck (check out Chuan Ju De near the front gate of Tiananmen Square. It's now a chain but this one at Tianamen is the first one. You can choose your own duck!).
