I could not help but focus my eyes on the tv set to witness the downfall of the symbol of the world's financial power. I felt afraid and confused of what was happening. I just couldn't believe that America, the super-power country has been attacked. If a powerful country like the US could be harmed in a matter of minutes, how much more my Philippines who is helpless and powerless? I have come to realize that there really is no safe place in the world. May it be New York or in the dark streets of Manila, you could be dead if it's your time.

CNN, BBC, local tv and radio stations were only some of the hundreds of media networks who covered the most tragic event of the millennium. Media coverage during that time was remarkable. People from all around the world were able to know the events as they were happening in the US.

It was a good thing that media showed to the world what was perceived to be a terrorist attack. That was what we really needed. The only problem was that they were very biased and sympathetic only to the US. Western media outlets were quick to point that the Palestinians might be the suspect. Some reporters were not careful with their words causing many people to be angry.

It is true that what happened was a work of evil. Thousands of innocent people were victimized. Because of this, most people around the world felt for America. It seemed that America was one poor country. People were quick to judge the middle easterns as the terrorists. What the US did in the past to other countries was forgotten. Terrorists probably thought that it was payback time for the US has done a lot of harm to them. But it seemed that media did not cover what was supposed to be discussed. They focused only on the harm done against the US and completely didn't study of why it was done to them. Harm and terrorism made by the US before were put to oblivion. US media outlets only showed to the world things favoring them.

The US attacked many small countries before but were not publicized. Mainly because media people felt that that would only bring disgrace to their country. Victims of American attacks were never given importance . The whole world never knew about them.

It seems that America was the only poor victim. Little did many people know that these terrorists attacks were only revenge by the countries harmed by the US. Nevertheless, innocent lives should not be harmed.

No matter how evil terrorism is, media should still be fair in covering events. Both sides should be analyzed and explained, that of the terrorists and the US. Reports should not be biased. Western media should be able to present to the public everything they needed to know, and that is of the reason why things such as these are being done against the US. It may be difficult for the Americans to handle this but they should never forget the harm they had once done to the others.
