This was probably the best Chris Ryan/Alpha Force book I have read. It had action from start to finish and was fantastic at the end. I love these books and will continue to read them. There was only one slight problem with this book though. That is you can't always know what the characters plans are until to read on. In some places it is good to have a mystery like that, but in this book there was too much of it. Other good bits were diving in Shark - infested waters.

A wonderful and very imaginative book. Imaginative because people all live on ships that go around and hunt each other for food. Tom, the main character from London, is in a fiddly situation. The Mayor of London has some new equipment called MEDUSA that was dug up by Lord Valentine in the Sixty Minute War and plans to use it against other cities to eat for London. However, Valentine is not as friendly as he seems. After killing her parents, Hester Shaw came to kill him, but Tom, a supporter of Valentine (well not for long) stops her and then they both fight Valentine and the Lord Mayor to stop them using MEDUSA. Towards the middle of the book, Valentine's daugther Kathrine also finds out his evil plans and helps Tom and Hester at the end. Although Hester is not fully sure whether to go on...The twosome have to overcome some fears, dread and sadness. A brilliant book packed into one and also with 3 books after it. Enjoy!

A very gripping and imaginative book like Mortal Engines. A brilliant sequel with lots of Adventure. The book starts 2 years later with Tom and Hester flying over ice in their airship, The Jenny Haniver. After having damage to their airship, and carrying an extra passenger they stumble across a dying town, Anchorage. Tom and Hester's passenger, Professor Pennyroyal is quite famous and is convinced that he has been to America where only a few people have been. The teenage 'Queen' that masters the town wants to head for the Dead Continent to explore for more fuel and food. Throughout the book mysteries unfold and you find more about the characters. Quite a few stories are linked together and can get a bit confusing, but should be ok for most people. What I also love about these books is the names Philip Reeve gives the towns and cities. E.g Tunbridge Wheels and Wolvererhampton, as well as London, America and Greenland. A great novel to read.
