Ingredients
1lb onions
1 tsp garam massala (mixed spice)
1lb mince (lamb or beef)
1/2 tsp dried mint
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp salt
1 clove garlic crushed
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1 in ginger chopped
1 tin of tomatoes
1 tsp ground coriander
1 green chilli
1/2 - 3/4 pint water
1 tsp ground cumin
Method
* mix mince, garlic, ginger, garlic, green
chilli, ground cumin, coriander, garam masala and mint
* form golf ball sized balls and chill for 1/2 hour to bind
* chop onions roughly and spread over base of a pan large enough to hold all balls in a single layer
* place meat balls on top of onion and sprinkle cumin seeds on top
* cook over a very low heat partially covered until the onions have gone soft (the fat leaks from the balls and fries the onions - be patient it could take over 1/2 hour)
* add chilli powder, turmeric, salt and tomatoes. Stir gently and add water
* simmer gently until sauce thickened and water evaporated - again about 1/2 hour
