WRXO was Roxboro's first radio station, signed on by Harold Taylor in 1948. WRXO launched an FM station, WKRX, at 96.7, a few years later. WRXO had an adult contemporary format for years before flipping to oldies in the early nineties. The station later abandoned the oldies format to simulcast WKRX's country music programming, but returned to adult contemporary in 2001. In 2002, WRXO went with a popular standards format, but returned to a simulcast of FM sister station WKRX a few years later, coupled ith some separate religiousprogramming on Sundays. The 1,000-watt WRXO operates during daylight hours only.
