From a financial standpoint it probably made sense for Columbia to underscore it's commitment to the reggae bandwagon with the release of "Rhythm Come Forward A Reggae Anthology". That said, artistically the collection was a complete puzzle. Not exactly known as a major force in the reggae market, the album managed to pull together a weird and haphazard mix of contemporary and old school reggae. Spotlighting Columbia acts, Third World and Peter Tosh represented the contemporary material. Apparently under the impression every reggae album had to have a Bob Marley track, this set kicked in a pair of early-'60s efforts in the form of "One Love" and "Simmer Down". Probably the most interesting efforts were a series of previously unreleased tracks, including two selections from England's Aswad ("Drum & Bass Line" and "African Children") and one from Yellowman ("Blood Stain").

"Rhythm Come Forward A Reggae Anthology" track listing:
1.) Bob Marley & the Wailers - One Love (Bob Marley)
2.) Bob Marley & the Wailers - Simmer Down (Bob Marley)
3.) Peter Tosh - Legalize It (Peter Tash)
4.) Peter Tosh - Stepping Razor (Peter Tash)
5.) Aswad - Drum & Bass Line
6.) Aswad - African Children
7.) Yellowman (with Sister Nancy) - Blood Stain
8.) Third World - Try Jah Love (Stevie Wonder) -
9.) Jimmy Cliff - Treat the Youths Right

Columbia also released a Volume 2 and Volume 3 set, though we've never heard either.
