Produced and largely written by Milan (guess we're not talking about the Italian city), 1969's "Head Shop" started out in meltdown glory (check out the crazed feedback title track opener) and seldom let up over the course of the next nine selections and 31 minutes. Exemplified by original material such as "Heaven Here We Come" and "Listen with a Third Ear" the set was full of weird studio effects, tons of feedback guitar (check out their cover of Bobby Hebb's "Sunny") and oddball timings (as well as some surprisingly sweet group harmonies) Other highlights included the second side's "Prophecy" and "Infinity". Actually, the only real misstep was an awful medley of "Where Have All the People Gon" and "Yesterday" (the flute backing is enough to make you gag). If it helps, it sounds like they were actually trying to be lame on this one. One of our favorite obscurities, the only reason we're selling it is that we have a second copy.
