This one's a puzzle to us. Several references we've recently seen speak favorably of this LP ...

Best described as Blood, Sweat and Tears wannabes (with a weird Jewish edge), Boston's Guns and Butter survived long enough to record one awful set of quasi-classical influenced jazz-rock. If the combination didn't sound very appealing, you were right. Led by Jeff Lyon's anonymous voice, "Guns and Butter" was divided between flaccid platitudes such as "Look at the Day", "Family" and the BS&T clone "It Can't Go On Like This" and equally irritating art-rock pomposities such as "I Am" and the excruciating eight minute "Sometimes". New York Times critic James Lichtenberg's liner notes were equally appalling. To quote a close friend, "burn immediately" ... (The album was originally released with a one of the year's dullest gatefold covers.)

"Guns and Butter" track listing:
1.) I Am (Lenny Federer) - 4:24

4.) Sometimes (Lenny Federer) - 8:34
5.) It Can't Go on Like This (Richard Ploss) - 3:09
6.) Our Album (Cohen) - 3:04
7.) Lady Grey (Richard Ploss) - 3:48
8.) Family (Cohen - Peter Tucker) - 2:33
9.) Elysium's Butterfly Comes (Richard Ploss) - 2:32
