| The Promise Dance He shows up to fulfill a promise to a friend A dance, movement to a beat of a song He sees her across the crowded room And his heart skips a beat as he approaches her Nervous as everything, the promise takes control He introduces himself once again And he asks for the dance She says yes and takes his hand to the floor He feels like a child again as he holds her in his arms Trying not to look into her eyes But they draw him in He feels a feeling in his heart from that moment The music comes to an end as does the dance But at the next chance, he asks once again They hold each other looking into the soul Dancing in circles, only them in a crowded room Sounds elude them other than the beat of the heart Falling deeply into a trance Wanting the time of the night to fall back Wishing the dance to never end Feeling the moisture in each other�s hand Knowing that the beat is in unison to the other Having skipping hearts feeding off the love they share He takes off his hat to hold her closer to him Feeling all of her in his arms He doesn�t want to let go But time always has a way to slip by For a long time after, she crosses his mind Till one day they meet again and he feels it all still At that moment he knows his heart is lost He hopes that she will accept this gift of himself And she does Darrin L.
