IN MY OPINION: ROBERT D. RICHARDS

The Origin of Israel

Israel is the modern political embodiment of the ancient Jewish nation.  A Special Resolution of the United Nations created it in 1947 out of world sympathy for the Jewish holocaust of World War II.

Here is the UN Resolution that created the modern state of Israel:

UN General Assembly Resolution 181
(Partition Plan)
November 29, 1947

Following the adoption of this Special Resolution, Great Britain, the “Mandated Power” of the time (mandated by a resolution of The League of Nations (the UN’s precursor) in 1920), withdrew from Palestine and two separate nations were established – Israel for the Jewish people and Palestine for the resident Arabs.  The City of Jerusalem, a common holy city to both faiths (and the Christian faith), was established as a “Special International Regime”, to be administered by the UN and belonging to neither nation.
