EXPIRE

December 5th, 2004
The hours were pushed aside without the slightest touch of grace
Mornings fell to night and the sun went out with such a fluid pace
The leaves were tarnished with years turned gray and minutes idle
Life has come full circle in the blink of eye from oldness to a child
As I lay here with a heart full of content and blackened sorrow
I mourn for those who love me for I will not walk the earth tomorrow
Above the hummingbird has slowed it’s movements to a crawl
A tear glides across my cheek as its wings become increasingly small
Where will I wonder as I transgress through time and infinite lands?
Across torrid black oceans or maybe through hellish dessert sands
The skies have opened letting a brilliant light pass without conflict
I am not ready my heart beats and yearns for I’ve had time to reflect
The hummingbird flaps vigorously screaming out over my soul and being
The rain begins to fall effortlessly drenching my body before leaving
The moonlight shines like a cloak inspired by the touch of God
My aspirations and ambitions have been replaced by another thought
Departure is inevitable and as the shores reside giving way to the ocean
I shall embrace it with rigid grip and love encircled with joyous notions
My time has come to an end and I feel the warmth of a placeless region
Like everything from people to the earth and universe, it’s a change in season
